“Selenography” technically refers to the study of the physical features of the Moon. In my other incarnation, I’ve studied palmistry (among other things–I grew up in Berkeley in the 70s, so sue me), and in palmistry the various parts of the hand are related to various planets and their (non-scientific) influences. The Mount of the Moon is the realm of imagination, of the subconscious, of intuition and meaning. To me, creative work entails not only looking at the goals and parameters of a project, but looking into the motivations and meaning going into it. I feel that any creative project has a soul, of sorts, a path of expression that is unique and compelling, whether it’s a website for an institution, a photographer’s portfolio, or a portrait. The joy of working in the creative field is finding that soul and, amid the bubble and squeak of daily life, bringing it out into the light.

Hi there–the Mount of the Moon is on the lower outside edge of the palm–it’s the area you can’t touch with your thumb (the thumb, in Western Palmistry, equals the will), so it’s an area you can’t force, can’t subject to your will.
